[pullquote align="right"]I had nobody to watch me or teach me…or point me in the right direction[/pullquote]

Before I became involved with the Youth Services Centre, my life was a total disaster. I was doing a lot of harmful things to my body. I was on drugs, I was staying up all night, and I was not eating properly. More than that, I had quit school at the end of grade six; I had nobody to watch me or teach me any different or point me in the right direction. In 2003, I had nowhere to go and nobody to turn to, but I had heard from some friends about the Youth Services Centre. So, anyway, one day I went there. From that time on, my life took a turn for the better.

This did not happen right away; it took time. I had to get used to my new surroundings and all the new people there. Honestly, I couldn’t even talk to anybody; except Paul. I could talk to him as a friend, not like some counsellor; he was a great help and support for me and still is.

Since that time, the Outreach program and all the people who work there have really helped me to change my life, improve my life, eat healthier food, and they have shown me a better way of life.

Today, four years later, I am still connected to the Youth Services Centre and the people who work there. Thanks to them, I am no longer addicted to drugs , I have a new and positive outlook on life, I am back in school and doing well, and I have hope that my future will hold a lot of promise for me. Now, I am more aware of my body and my health, and my feelings. I intend to continue to take care of myself and the ones I love and to stay on my present course until I get to where I want to go! Finally, I want to say that today I consider myself to be a very lucky person and am grateful for all the help I have received from the Youth Services Centre, because the people there have helped me to achieve some of my goals, and to become a better person.
